Monday, February 2, 2009

Meeting was called to order @ 7PM

Board Members Present: Rose Marie and Bill Eash, Elizabeth and Mark Williams, Carol De Leon, Sherri Youngblood, Margo Shallcross, Linda Cornelius and Jeanene Pegg-Hundley

Minutes from January 5, 2009 meeting were approved

Membership- Mark Williams reported that we had 2 new members

Youth Report- Sherri Youngblood gave a report on the clinic by Carol Stolhmann, said the equitation part was wonderful as this is Carol's speciality. Double Diamond was very gracious in allowing use of their facility, no speaker system is available so if we use this facility in the feature we need to keep this in mind. Had 8 youth ride in the Country Pleasure part of the clinic, Carol had large turnout in the Hunter and Showmanship parts. Sherri felt adults could benefit from Carol giving a clinic in the future.

Youth went over budget but are working on this as they have other upcoming projects. They have a trip to Tx A&M planned doing Spring Break-this will be a behind the scene trip to the vet school. They had 2 youth delegates at Horsefest, Kaitlyn Eberhardt and Matt Colver, several other youth also attended Horsefest (Rachel Youngblood, Skye Williams, Koy Moody and Kristan). The youth came away with many awards as well as many of the AAHA adults. Skye won the 11 yr. old, Lisa Eberhardt won the Dressage, Brooke won Sporthorse and Donna Murphy the Distance Rider.

Fiesta Report- Bill Eash- Show is on track, some discussion was held on advertising the added money and making sure it stood out in the premium book. Bill wants more ads sold.

Old Business: none

New Business: Jeanene Pegg-Hundley is setting up Wednesday at the S.A. Stock Show, anyone wanted to volunteer to help her are welcome. She is taking two horses for the display and 2 boxes of literature from AHA plus some promo pictures. Jeanene has done this for many years and does a great job promoting the Arabian horse.

Jeanene also shared with those present at the meeting a very exciting film she provided 2 geldings (bay and a grey) for in Harper, TX. We will send out information when this film trailer will be shown-it is for a big time movie with a $80 MILLION budget. The pictures she brought were awesome and Rose Marie Eash will put some on the AAHA web page.

I got called on an emergency and left about 8:10 before meeting was adjourned.
