BOARD TRAINING PROGRAM: Rose Marie Eash

Very positive feedback from members that attended – numbers were low but hoping that next meeting attracts more members. Speaker was Shannon Sullivan from Region 9 – PR Department. In the brainstorming session many topics/ideas for clinics, programs etc. were discussed including: trail classes, hunter hack/jumping, native costumes, side saddle, driving class, foal enhacement training, equitation, speaker from the Ag office to discuss nutritional issues, possible misunderstanding re. monthly meetings as it is stated “Board Meeting” will change that to “Member Meeting” in the Echo, discussed letter in latest Arabian Horse by Gary Zimmerman with reference to increasing numbers of horses registered & potential misguided attempts to breed for quantity & not quality (members are encouraged to address this issue on their own & as a club), setting a Donation Budget, upcoming Calendar of Events on website.

YOUTH ACTIVITIES: Liz Wiliams

Youth group continuing to work on the Silent Auction for the Fiesta Show. Donations welcome.

SA STOCK SHOW ARAB PRESENTATION: Jeanene Pegg-Hundley

Well presented, reached out to many people. Real attraction was that it was different ie. rider in native costume. Information given on history of the horse & its versatility. Handouts went fast. Photos to be developed & put in the Echo. Note of interest: a John Lyons demonstration was to be started & the organizers had horse troubles … they approached Jeanene if she would lend her Half-Arab Pinto mare, “Paint me Pretty”, for the demonstration.. She was outstanding on the tarp! The 4 winners of the raffle for the Breyer’s Arab Horse have been picked & contacted & will go to Jeanene Pegg-Hundley’s stable for hands on experience. Plan for next year is a bigger arena which will allow us to have several riders in the ring ie. side saddle, native costume, English & Western.

Jeanene met an artist who is interested in the Arab Horse & will invite Sarah Istone to come to the next meeting.

TRAIL RIDE: Donna Doulton

Scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Guadalupe River State Park. Please see website for more details. To date the total of rider is 20.
